If you have a qualifying cataract, your underlying cataract surgery will be covered by Medicare or most insurance plans. Depending on your insurance, you will likely have some out-of-pocket costs for deductibles, co-payments or co-insurance. After basic cataract surgery (without advance lenses), most patients are dependent on glasses for day-to-day activities. If you wish to reduce your dependence on glasses, our surgeons may use the laser during cataract surgery along with advanced technology lenses and other techniques to help you reduce your dependence on glasses. However, procedures to reduce your dependence on glasses are not covered by Medicare or insurance.
