What should I expect during a treatment?

During this in-office procedure, a thin layer of cooling gel is applied to the desired body part. Dr. Newman then employs a hand piece which passes over the area utilizing a series of pulses to deliver the energy. Some patients may experience discomfort which is almost always well tolerated.

Does it hurt?

Most of our patients report a tolerable level of discomfort during the procedure, and usually no pain or a slight burning sensation for a few hours afterwards. For their comfort, patients are provided with a topical anesthetic cream which may be applied 60 minutes before the procedure.

What results can I expect?

Most patients will see significant results within 2 or 3 weeks. However the maximum improvement may not be seen for a month after your final treatment.

Can’t I just get by without hearing aids?

Miscommunication is noticeable to others and can lead to negative changes in your personality. Many people with untreated hearing loss gradually withdraw from activities they enjoy, leading to isolation and depression, and may demonstrate anger management problems and other more complicated psychosocial changes.

What should I expect during a hearing evaluation?

 In addition, your hearing specialist will obtain a detailed history of your experience (if any) with classic symptoms of hearing loss and any sudden or unusual progression that would indicate the need for evaluation by a specialist in otology.
