Center For Sight Foundation

For over 20 years, Center For Sight has participated in Mission Cataract, an annual two week event where our surgeons, optometric physicians, technicians, nurses and administrative staff donate their time and expertise to perform free cataract surgeries to people in need with no means to pay. Center For Sight is the only ophthalmology practice in the state of Florida to participate in the program.
In 2012, David Shoemaker, M.D., and his wife, Yara, established the Center For Sight Foundation, a donor-advised fund maintained and operated by the Gulf Coast Community Foundation, to ensure ongoing support for Mission Cataract. 100% of every dollar donated is used to purchase medications, surgical supplies, protective post-operative glasses, and the intraocular lens placed in patients’ eyes at the time of surgery.
Donations to the Center For Sight Foundation can help restore vision to those who otherwise would experience serious visual impairment, or even blindness, due to cataracts. Visit to hear stories from former patients and learn how you can help us continue to perform this life-changing service.
