About John Lewis, O.D.
Dr. Lewis has been treating patients in Southwest Florida for over 30 years. He brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise in primary vision care with an emphasis on eye disease, ocular trauma, geriatric care, glaucoma, pre- and post-operative cataract surgery care, refractive surgery consultations and contact lens care.
Dr. Lewis is a graduate of the University of Florida, where he received a Bachelor of Science degree. He went on to earn his Doctor of Optometry degree from the Southern College of Optometry. Dr. Lewis is active in industry associations, being a longstanding member of the American Optometric Association, the Manasota Optometric Society, the American Academy of Optometry, the Florida Academy of Optometry and remains an active volunteer with the Florida Optometric Association. Furthermore, he is the former Chair of the Florida State Board of Optometry.
In addition to being a clinical investigator for numerous contact lens studies, Dr. Lewis is the former Chief Examiner for the National Board of Examiners in Optometry. He has been very involved with community affairs in regards to health-related matters, and was appointed the Vice Chair of the Health Planning Council of Pinellas, Hillsborough and Manatee Counties. Dr. Lewis is also a frequent blood donor, having donated over 60 gallons!
Dr. Lewis will be seeing patients in our Englewood and Jacaranda offices.
