Laser Cataract Surgery

A World-Class Center of Excellence

Center For Sight was established over 30 years ago with the objective of bringing world-class cataract care to Southwest Florida. As testament to our unending pursuit of excellence in eye care, our team of 250 staff members including 23 board certified physicians, have performed hundreds of thousands of life-changing cataract procedures. Many of our patients have made the journey to Sarasota from across the U.S. and around the world to have one of the most experienced cataract surgeons, using the most advanced diagnostic and surgical technology, perform their cataract procedure.

While surgical expertise and technology are essential to protecting, preserving and restoring the precious gift of sight, our commitment to each and every patient is to provide a close and honest patient-doctor relationship, along with courteous and respectful service to make your cataract procedure a pleasant and rewarding experience.

About Cataracts

If your vision is getting cloudy, if you are losing your color perception, if you are having trouble reading or driving at night; you may be developing cataracts. The natural lens inside the eye is normally transparent in our youth. As we age, our clear lenses inevitably become cloudy, resulting in a cataract. Cataracts are a normal part of the aging process and can develop slowly. However, as the cataract matures, the cloudiness increases, resulting in significant loss of sight and even blindness.

Once cataracts form, the only way to see clearly again is to have the cloudy, natural lens removed and replaced with an artificial lens implant, or IOL. In general, when you are bothered by your vision during your daily activities, it is time to think about cataract surgery. You decide when the time is right for you.

Cataract surgery is performed at Center For Sight’s AAAHC accredited surgery center, using the latest innovations in cataract surgery, such as “drops only” anesthesia (no shots) and self-sealing incisions to quickly and painlessly restore your vision.

We offer both the traditional manual technique and Laser Cataract Surgery with the LENSAR® femtosecond laser. By combining Laser Cataract Surgery with the advanced IOLs that we offer, our patients are having their vision restored to a more youthful state. This means you will have the greatest likelihood for improved vision at all distances so you can read to your grandchildren, play cards with your friends, and enjoy all your favorite activities like golfing, swimming, sewing and tennis, without the inconvenience of glasses!

Restoring Vision with Laser Precision

For more than 30 years, the pioneering surgeons at Center For Sight have helped set the standard in cataract and lens replacement surgery. Our tradition of eye care excellence continues with our investment in Laser Cataract Surgery, a medical innovation perfectly suited for the unique complexities of the human eye. In 2012, our team of cataract surgeons were among the first in the nation to perform Laser Cataract Surgery with the LENSAR femtosecond laser.

Laser Cataract Surgery represents a revolutionary advancement in cataract surgery that significantly improves the precision of several of the most critical steps in cataract surgery, offering our patients a laser-precise alternative to manual cataract surgery performed with handheld blades. With Laser Cataract Surgery, the surgeons at Center For Sight will customize the procedure to your eye’s unique structure, resulting in better visual outcomes with greater patient safety.

Your Cataract Treatment Options

Center For Sight offers a range of treatment options to suit your vision goals. Your eyes are unique. Based on the distinctive anatomy of your eyes, we will work with you to help you achieve your “personal best” vision. While no two patients are the same, our surgeons will evaluate your eyes to determine if you are a candidate for Laser Cataract Surgery, assess your desired visual outcome and help you decide which cataract treatment option will most likely help you achieve your vision goals. We offer three Vision Options: Advanced Vision, Custom Vision, and Basic Vision. Your surgeon may also use a combination of these treatments and lens implants.
