Vision and hearing are our two most important senses. Unfortunately, they both tend to fail as we age. Hearing loss affects 30 million Americans, 80% of whom are undiagnosed and untreated. To meet the needs of these individuals, Center for Sight added a full service hearing program for the convenience of our patients. We now provide complimentary hearing evaluations to all our patients at no additional charge. Our hearing services are provided as an extension of our commitment to delivering advanced care to improve our patients’ lives.
Center For Sight offers complimentary comprehensive hearing testing, using state-of-the-art hearing equipment, performed by an experienced, licensed, hearing instrument specialist under the direction of our board-certified physicians.
Center For Sight is one of the only offices in Sarasota and the surrounding areas to use the revolutionary Otogram™ technology by Tympany—a cutting edge diagnostic hearing system that provides patients with the most thorough and comprehensive hearing examinations possible. With the use of the Otogram a fully automated hearing examination can be administered in a relaxed setting in just 30 minutes. This technology is used to diagnose hearing problems so you can begin fully enjoying your life again.
Hearing Loss Impacts the Quality of Life
Untreated hearing loss influences all aspects of everyday life. It limits your ability to be involved with friends and family, to interact in public places and to stay active and aware. Most often a spouse or loved one is the first to detect a hearing problem. Because hearing loss is usually gradual, the individual affected is frequently unaware. In addition, a person may be resistant to the idea of having a hearing loss due to the lack of public awareness and the stigma attached to hearing aids.
Causes of Hearing Loss: Hearing loss can affect anyone at any age, even children. The causes of hearing loss vary from a simple wax build-up in the external ear canal to a more serious, non-syndromic sensorineural hearing loss.
Signs of Hearing Loss Include:
- Difficulty hearing conversations in crowded places
- Ringing or other noises in your ears
- Others telling you that you don’t seem to hear them
- Others complaining that you watch TV with the volume too high
- Frequently needing to ask others to repeat themselves
- Feeling that people are mumbling in everyday conversations
- Difficulty understanding women or young children’s voices
- Trouble knowing where sounds are coming from
At Center For Sight, a complimentary comprehensive diagnostic evaluation will be given to determine the patient’s current hearing status and amount of hearing loss. This test consists of a comprehensive audiogram with air, bone and speech testing along with tympanometry, acoustic reflex and evoked auditory testing.
Center For Sight uses the revolutionary “Otogram” technology by Tympany to administer the automated hearing test that detects and defines the ability to hear. This breakthrough technology replaces conventional testing methods with a computer-generated report for accuracy. Instead of requiring the hearing test to be performed in a confining hearing booth, the Otogram test takes place in a comfortable, quiet room.
Center For Sight carries a wide variety of hearing aids to fit every need. Today, most hearing aids use digital signal processing equipped with several memory settings to assist when transitioning between hearing environments. Depending on your preference, switching between programs can be performed automatically for you or manually with a simple push of a button.
We carry hearing aids of all shapes and sizes with outstanding program capabilities such as multi-memories, directional and fully automatic. There are five basic styles of hearing aid sizes:
- Behind the ear
- In the ear
- In the canal
- Completely in the ear
- Open fitting
Our most popular “ready to wear” hearing aids can be fitted on the same day as your hearing evaluation. We offer a hearing aid value guarantee for all hearing aids purchased. If you find the same hearing aid priced lower, we will match that price and refund you the difference, internet purchases excluded. In addition, you have a 30-day trial period. If you are dissatisfied with your hearing aid you can return it within the 30-day period and receive a refund, or exchange it for a different style.
