Dr. William Mestrezat is a board certified and a Harvard fellowship trained Ophthalmologist specializing in the diagnosis and treatment of retina-vitreous diseases. A native of Flint, Michigan, he earned his bachelor’s degree from Albion College and then attended medical school in Detroit at Wayne State University. He completed his internship at William Beaumont Hospital and residency in ophthalmology at Wayne State University. Location: Venice and Sarasota In addition, Dr. Mestrezat completed his fellowship training in retina-vitreous surgery at the Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary affiliated with the prestigious Harvard University. Dr. Mestrezat offers the most advanced treatments available for patients who suffer from retinal detachments, eye trauma, macular degeneration and retinal vascular diseases which include diabetic retinopathy. As a clinical investigator for national clinical trials, Dr. Mestrezat continues to research and develop new and innovative treatments for sight threatening diseases. At Center For Sight, Dr. Mestrezat uses the latest state-of-the-art equipment for diagnosis and treatment of retinal diseases including the latest 25-gauge instrumentation which has been proven to reduce patient discomfort following surgery. Dr. Mestrezat resides in Sarasota with his wife Elaine and is the proud father of two sons in college: Christopher is in medical school and Scott is studying biology and economics. Dr.Mestrezat spends his free time staying active in the outdoors. As an avid runner, biker and swimmer, he has participated in triathlons. He also enjoys water skiing, snow skiing and golfing.
