Conductive Keratoplasty is a non-laser procedure that changes how the eye focuses light by reshaping the cornea. CK uses a controlled release of radiofrequency (RF) energy to heat and shrink the corneal tissue of the eye, which steepens the cornea’s shape. This steepening results in the desired refractive correction.
If you're over 40, your vision is inevitably changing. Many people who never wore glasses before are suddenly finding they require corrective lenses to do things like drive at night, work on a computer or read a menu.
CK is the first alternative to laser vision correction for Baby Boomers who struggle with the sudden need for glasses as they age. It developed as the result of more than 20 years of research into the use of heat to shrink the cornea tissue (thermokeratoplasty) and steepen its surface. In CK, radio frequency energy is used at precise temperatures based on research to achieve the necessary refractive change.
